PAIN POINTS & USER NEEDS
After conducting research, it became evident that there is an opportunity for ESPN to become a leading sports betting application to educate users on the industry.
Sports betting is a sensitive topic to many, as it presents opportunities for addiction and bad financial decisions. Since ESPN is viewed by many as a trustworthy brand this is the perfect partnership to create a product to help educate people because of the economic success of sports betting, it is not going anywhere.
The question then shifted to how can we still provide a world-class experience to bettors of all experience levels.

Before designing , I planned out individual flows to show in the prototype and created wireframes in Figma for a seamless transition to visual design.

MARKET RESEARCH & USER INTERVIEWS
At the beginning of this project, ESPN and Penn Entertainment announced they would be partnering to create ESPN Bet, a sports betting extension of ESPN. I saw this as an opportunity to create something that wasn't made yet. As this project came along, I wanted to make the project innovative, and have value towards the normal consumer.
After conversations with colleagues, users, and exploring the trends in the sports betting industry, I found that there is a gap in knowledge around the subject. On one hand, some people know nothing about sports betting and then there are the experts on the subject who strategically believe they are winning against the sportsbook.
"On Sunday I watch football with my partner, he enjoys sports betting and I want to be in the loop but I don't know anything about it. All the terms are like a foreign language to me…I'd love to learn without having to ask my partner questions all the time."
